Symbolism of the Labyris
In Minoan times the double-headed axe was an emblem held in each hand of the Goddess and stood for regeneration. It was associated with the butterfly and thereby also with the power of transformation. In modern times the labyris has become a symbol of the Amazon, the strong and independent woman who makes her own decisions.
