Here, truly, is one of the most lush forms of the Goddess. The design is derived from a carving done in mastodon ivory found in the Rideaux cave of Lespugue, France. It is seen as evidence of a Goddess worshipping culture in the stone age.
The shape, so arresting to modern eyes, expresses with force and vigor the fecundity and endless abundance of the gifts of the Divine Mother.
