Symbolism and Meaning of the Celtic Heron Ring
In ancient Wales the heron, Creyr, was seen as the primal creator and giver of life. The Lady of the Lake, the shape-shifting goddess, Rhiannon, often took the shape of a heron. Holding within herself the sacred and magical powers of the land, it was she who gave to Arthur the power of kingship.
